Insurance: FAQ
*The following applies only to Acupuncture services. Most insurance companies [serving Hawai’i] are unwilling to fairly compensate Naturopathic Doctors at the time of going to press*
Q: Can I Use My Insurance?
A: Possibly, but only for Acupuncture (not for naturopathic medicine or herbs/supplements). This depends on whether or not you have acupuncture coverage. Please contact your insurance company to find out what “benefits” you have related to acupuncture (insurance companies call them" “benefits”).
Q: Do You Take My Insurance?
A: We are able to take some Aetna, BCBS Blue Cross Blue Shield privided you have acupuncture coverage (please check with your insurance provider). Additionally we have worked with Geico and Allstate for MVA claims.
For all other insurance providers - if you know you have good coverage, we’re willing to chat, if not, we can provide service, and give you a “Superbill” which is like a receipt that you take yo your insurance company to get paid directly from them. The insurance company uses that to reimburse you, usually up to the limit dictated by your “benefits.”
Q: Do You Take MVA or Workers Comp?
A: Yes, however you have to submit the superbill to the insurance company for compensation, and will need to compensate for the treatments at the time of the appointment.
Q: Can You Submit The Bills To Insurance For Me?
A: Unfortunately, we do not have the staff or resources at the time, though are always open to discussing how we can best help the community, with the restrictions we have. If there’s anyone out there who understands the ins and outs of these systems, we’d love to chat!
